Prof. Dr. Serdar YILDIRIM

Adana Alparslan Türkeş Science and Technology University

Prof. Dr. Serdar Yıldırım received the B.S. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Çukurova University, Turkey and MS and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California, USA, in 1997, 2000, and 2006, respectively. His research interest includes signal processing, machine learning, emotion recognition, and affective computing. He has published several journal and conference papers in these areas. He received Communication Critical Pathway Fellowship award during his PhD studies. He also is one of the recipients of the Ten Year Technical Impact Award from the 2014 ACM ICMI. Currently he is a Professor in the Computer Engineering department at Adana Alparslan Türkeş Science and Technology University. He is a member of IEEE.

Talk topic: Emotion is at the core of human behavior and an important part of human interaction. To build a more natural human–machine interaction system it is essential to embed emotion recognition capability.
